In your face blue hydrangea

I'm making this hydrangea drawing week! I have been making some decent headway despite having a head cold. Stuffy sinuses aren't fun when you're bent over something. Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do. I do see that colored pencils tend to develop faster than graphite...and I'm not 100% certain as to why that is. I would like to have half of my work become colored pencil work and half graphite. I think the more I work in color...the more comfortable I'll get. I'm definitely becoming more familiar with how these pencils work, lay down color, and feel.

I have to apologize for how dark the pic is...it's seriously gloomy and rainy outside. My natural lighting isn't as great as it usually is.

  1. It's beautiful! What brand of colored pencils do you use? I love color and need to do some colorful work every now and then. I love to oil paint, but it's so messy and time consuming, and I haven't gotten along very well with pastels.

  2. I'm using a bunch of different ones. They go from no name colored pencils to Berol Verithins to Prismacolors.

I attempted to do oils back in college. I had a good time with them...but they are a mess and they stink. My inner control freak loves how much control pencils give me. ;)
