Learning experience...

This blog post is a continuation of the last one in regards to the art show we didn't get into. I do listen to a great artist podcast called "Artists Helping Artists" and I learn all sorts of great stuff. One thing I remembered was to look at the art that gets accepted into a show you didn't so you can see what did. I did just that when I went down and picked up my drawing. Tell you what...I learned quite a bit.

I did get to see the show before it officially opened when I stopped down to South County Art Association. I saw that oil paintings, sculptures, black and white photography, and a very few number of watercolors were accepted. No drawings made it on the walls at all. Also I saw the style of paintings were either on the abstract side or impressionistic...none of the art was created with the high levels of realistic detail that I do. So, that was very interesting and affirming to me. It wasn't the art itself that didn't get accepted, my artistic style wasn't what the juror was into. And...that is fine. I'm sure I'll come across that plenty of times in my artistic career. That is not going to keep me from entering things. So....Ocean of Petals is back on my walls waiting for the right home to call it it's own!

My new camera showed up and I am so excited. I'm going to start looking for outdoor dog shows, horse shows, agility trials and obedience trials to see and if I can find some new reference photos. I may play around with of the indoor agility trials and see how the contrast of lights versus darks play out. I'm not going to expect much indoors, but maybe some photoshoping will help bring a couple of photos into the forefront.

I've got a couple of more days until the Horse Play Open House and I'll have to get on the stick and start getting things ready. I have been watching the weather and it looks like it's going to be great for outdoor events. Like I mentioned if you're local, come on out and support Horse Play Horse Rescue!!!
